[ARCHIVED] South Kingstown Annual Fourth of July Celebration at Old Mountain Field

The South Kingstown Recreation Commission and Parks and Recreation Department are extremely pleased to announce that the Town’s Annual Fourth of July Celebration at Old Mountain Field, in Wakefield, will take place this year, when celebrating freedom and independence takes on a whole new meaning.  The festivities will start at 5:30pm and feature a live concert by Take it to the Bridge, followed by a spectacular fireworks display at approximately 9pm.

The public is invited to bring thejuly 4th ir blankets and folding chairs, to relax, sing along with the band, dance, and celebrate in the park.   Because of the expected crowds, attendees who have not been vaccinated are encouraged to wear face coverings if in close contact with others.  Attendees are reminded that alcohol is prohibited in the park; and for this event pets should be left at home. This program is free of charge, however donations will be accepted to defray some of the costs; and a 50/50 raffle will be held immediately before the fireworks.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE IS BAD WEATHER ON THE 4TH?
The Parks and Recreation Department closely monitors the weather forecast and makes a determination as to whether to cancel the event by 10am on July 4th.

WHY MAKE THE DECISION TO CANCEL SO EARLY IN THE DAY?
it takes hours of preparation to stage a large pyrotechnics display. Once the pyrotechnics team begins prepping the fireworks, they cannot disassemble them; and they must shoot them off due to state and federal safety regulations.

IS THERE A RAIN DATE?
Yes! The event will be held on July 5th. Same time, same program!
