[ARCHIVED] (Updated Feb 10th) Covid-19 Vaccine Information for Residents 75 and Older

info-phone-contact-information

Town staff continues to confirm telephone contact information for residents 75 and older. If you have already called and updated information, you do not need to call again.

Any resident in this age category, who has not already confirmed a contact phone number with the Town, can call the senior Center at 401-789-0268.  Staff will be answering calls as quickly as possible and the public is asked for their patience.  Callers may leave a voice message with their name, address, date of birth and phone number. Staff will return every call and confirm updated information.  Those who leave a voice message are asked to be patient as It may take up to five days before receiving a return call.

Beginning February 17th, the Department of Health will be distributing 210 vaccine doses a week to South Kingstown, for senior residents; and this will continue for the next four weeks.   Staff has begun making calls to schedule appointments, starting with the oldest members of the community first.

The Department of Health has announced that private pharmacies such as Walgreens and CVS have also begun to schedule appointments (via the company websites) for the 75 plus population; and the State has opened two vaccination centers for additional appointments - access scheduling portal here: https://www.vaccinateri.org/ .  Residents are encouraged to try scheduling an appointment through these options as well.   It does not matter how or where you get an appointment providing it is a location in Rhode Island.

To ensure that those over 75 are served as quickly as possible, we ask that those not in this age category not leave their information at this time.

COVID-19 Vaccine Information for Resdients 75 and Older

The Town of South Kingstown has been advised by the Rhode Island Department of Health that it will be receiving 150 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, to be provided to senior residents, age 75 and older, on January 31st and February 3rd, at the Regional South Road School distribution site. Under the guidance of the Department of Health, the Town will be using the Rhode Island Special Needs Emergency Registry database to schedule appointments. Residents on the registry will be contacted via telephone between January 28th and February 2nd to schedule an appointment. Once all residents on the Special Needs Emergency Registry have been immunized, the Town will identify residents over the age of 75, using databases including voter registration, senior housing and senior center membership.

As the Town receives additional doses in the coming weeks, residents 75 and older will be contacted, via telephone, to schedule an appointment.   This is a fluid situation and the Town asks for the public’s patience.  For more information on the State's Covid-19 vaccine roll-out please visit  https://covid.ri.gov/vaccination.

For the latest info and updates from the Town of South Kingstown, visit the Town's COVID-19 webpage.

What is the RI Special Needs Emergency Registry?

The RIDOH has provided the following information:

The Rhode Island Special Needs Emergency Registry is a statewide registry designed to improve the identification of individuals who may need additional assistance during a disaster or emergency. The information is stored confidentially and is securely shared with municipal first responders and emergency management officials so they can best plan for and respond to an emergency. While enrolling in the registry does not guarantee assistance, it assists first responders in their response and helps keep individuals on their radar. This registration will not guarantee vaccination prioritization or that you will be contacted any sooner to receive a vaccination within the coming weeks.

Note: For South Kingstown seniors over 75, anyone who was not on the RI Special Needs Emergency registry prior to January 27th, is not guaranteed prioritization for vaccination.
