[ARCHIVED] Construction to Begin for Middlebridge Stormwater Improvements

Construction to Begin for Middlebridge Stormwater Improvements

In an effort to reduce pollutant loading to Narrow River and in order to comply with a total maximum daily load (TMDL) that was promulgated by the RI Department of Environmental Management for fecal coliform, the Town will be commencing stormwater treatment improvements beginning early April. The Town’s construction contractor (Skurka Construction) anticipates all work being completed by the end of May. The stormwater improvements primarily consist of road shoulder infiltration swales, which provide for stormwater infiltration and treatment. End of cul-de-sac pavement removal and installation of a qualifying pervious area (QPA) will occur at the terminus of Ash Street and french drains are proposed for Torrey Road to mitigate icing conditions in the winter-time.

Single lane road closures in work zones, with alternating traffic can be expected during construction Monday through Friday from 7am -4pm, beginning Monday, April 6th, 2020. Any questions regarding the project should be directed to Richard Bourbonnais, P.E., Town Engineer, at 401-789-9331 x2252 or email at rbourbonnais@southkingstownri.com.
