[ARCHIVED] Sidewalk Snow Removal Ordinance Now in Effect

Under a recently enacted Town ordinance, property owners in South Kingstown are now responsible for snow and ice removal from sidewalks adjacent to their properties.
If you own property adjacent to a sidewalk, you may be eligible for a waiver from snow and ice removal requirements if (1) you’re over the age of 65, (2) are disabled, or (3) your work schedule prevents you from removing snow or ice within 12 hours after the succession of a storm.

If you have any questions about the new snow removal ordinance, or your obligations under the ordinance, please click here to review the ordinance or call the Town Managers Office at 789-9331 extension 1201.  A map of priority sidewalks is also available online; please click here to view. These priority sidewalks are subject to strict enforcement because they are used by students to access public schools.

Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and hospitable community!
