At the meeting of South Kingstown Historic District Commission (HDC) on Thursday October 4th, the HDC presented Commendation Awards to historic property owners who have made exemplary efforts to restore historic buildings in Wakefield and Kingston. The awardees are owners of the Wakefield Branch building, home to Arnold Lumber Company, the Columbia House, home to Stedman's Bike Shop, and the Wilkins Updike House, a private residence. These historic properties and the efforts of their owners continue to strengthen the historic landscape and cultural resources of South Kingstown.
This is the first year of the HDC's Historic Preservation Commendation Awards program which aims to recognize the admirable efforts of historic property owners though out the community. Congratulation to all!
