ForNewsflash

On May 31, 2018, the Town Council hosted a joint work session with the Conservation Commission, the Economic Development Committee and the Sustainability Committee. During the two hour session, the Council and Committee members discussed and the Council amended a draft ordinance that would prohibit the use of point-of-sale plastic bags. During part the session, members of the Matunuck Girl Scout Troop 560 and students from Curtis Corner Middle School made presentations describing many of the environmental and health problems that can be caused by plastic pollution.

The Town Council will consider enacting the ordinance at a future meeting. A public hearing on the ordinance will be scheduled for late June or early July. For more information, please call the Planning Department at 789-9331 x1244.
