The Town Manager is
pleased to announce that Joseph P. Geaber, Jr. has been appointed as Chief ofPolice for the Town of South Kingstown. Geaber has been serving as Interim Chief of Police for the last eightmonths, and his formal appointment as Chief of Police is effective July 31st,
2017. As Chief of Police, Geaber will be responsible for the overall management and operations of each of the Town’s Public Safety divisions, including the Police Department, Emergency Medical Services, Harbor Patrol, Animal Control, and Animal Shelter, including both sworn and civilian personnel. Chief Geaber is aforty-one year veteran of the South Kingstown Police Department, and began his
career in law enforcement with the Town as a Patrolman in 1975, was promoted tothe rank of Sergeant in 1984, and prior to serving as Interim Police Chief, held
the rank of Police Captain of Administrative Services since 1994. Chief Geaber graduated from SuffolkUniversity Law School in 1986 where he earned a Juris Doctor degree, as well as
from Roger Williams University where he earned a Bachelor of Science inBusiness Administration and minored in Management. “I would like to
share my appreciation for Chief Geaber’s efforts serving as the Town’s InterimChief of Police the last eight months, he has done an excellent job. I am pleased to have someone with his
dedication and experience as the Town’s new Police Chief,” said Stephen A. Alfred, Town Manager.
