On March 2, 2023 members of the South Kingstown Town Council voted unanimously to support a $125 million bond referendum for a new high school facility . This was the culmination of over 6 months of project development, vetting, and related fiscal analysis. The identification of a supported amount provides much needed clarity to the SBC about the project elements moving forward. However, there is still much work to be done. We need your input to make the planned facility responsive to the needs of the student population and community as a whole. This will help us develop a more refined project and program for community members to consider when voting on a bond later this year.
WHAT TO EXPECT
On Saturday, March 18th @ 9:00 a.m. members of the SK School Building Committee (SBC) will join the design team from Studio JAED to facilitate this interactive community forum at the SKHS cafeteria, 215 Columbia Street, Wakefield, RI. The SBC will provide updates on the school building project to date. Studio JAED will have a brief project presentation followed by an interactive work session where community members can provide input into the design of a new high school building, campus, athletic facility, and related appurtenances. After the work session the SBC will facilitate a Q & A session. We anticipate that this event will last no longer than 2 hours.
