In accordance with the Town Charter, the Town Clerk serves as the Clerk of the Probate Court. The Town Clerk also serves as Acting Judge in the absence or inability of the Probate Judge or Town Solicitor to serve in that capacity. All petitions filed in association with the administration of the estate of a resident or property owner in the Town of South Kingstown are filed in this office and scheduled for hearing.
Probate Court Sessions
NOTICE: The next Probate Court session is scheduled for THURSDAY, AUGUST 20th and will be held as a Virtual hearing via Zoom beginning at 9:30 a.m. The docket, which will be available 3 days prior to the hearing, and public access instructions can be found under the Additional Probate Court Information at the bottom of this page.
The Probate Court is normally held the 3rd Thursday of each month at 2 p.m. at the Town Hall in the Town Council Chambers (review the calendar (PDF) for more information), however due to COVID-19, hearings will be held virtually on Zoom beginning at 9:30 a.m. until further notice. All petitions that do not require advertising or those that are on waiver should be submitted to the Town Clerk by noon on the Friday preceding the Court session. The required fees must accompany all petitions.
