If you have purchased a vehicle with a title from another state, or if you have a car that was previously registered in another state, and the model year of the vehicle is 2001 or newer, you must have the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on your paperwork checked against the actual VIN on your vehicle.
The South Kingstown Police Department performs VIN inspections at the South Kingstown Police Department for South Kingstown residents, businesses, and dealerships during the following times:
Monday through Friday – 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM
To process a VIN Check, South Kingstown residents, businesses and dealerships need to respond to the station with the vehicle, the title (or current registration if the title is being held by the lease or lien holder), and $10.00 cash or check (payable to the Town of South Kingstown).
