The Town Clerk is the Clerk to the Town Council and attends all regular and work sessions of the Council. Regular Meetings are held on the second and fourth Monday of each month beginning with a Work Session at 6:45 PM and the Regular Session immediately following at 7:30 PM. Agendas are prepared for each regular and work session of the Town Council and posted at four sites including the Town Hall, Peace Dale Library, the Town’s website, www.southkingstownri.com and the Secretary of State’s website at www.sos.ri.gov. All Town Council meeting minutes are also posted on the Town’s website the day after they have been approved by the Town Council. The Town Code and Zoning Ordinance are also maintained and sold in the office and can be accessed at: www.municode.com.
A number of Town Council policies are administered through the Office of the Town Clerk, including the liquor license policy which allows interested parties to submit an application for Town Council consideration, the selection process for appointment to Town boards and commissions which requires the filing of applications; serving as liaison with the RI Ethics Commission; maintaining and updating the Town’s Schedule of Fees.
