Residents of South Kingstown have the option of contracting with a private hauler or taking their trash and recyclables to the Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station. By ordinance, all residents, whether they use the transfer station or a private hauler, must recycle.
For more information on recycling, click here to see the Recycle Together video.
Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station
To encourage recycling, South Kingstown operates a "Bag & Tag" waste disposal system at the Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station. You supply the bag and purchase an adhesive "tag" that goes around the neck of the bag prior to disposal. Because all recycling is free, the more you recycle, the more money you save on tags.
For more information on using the transfer station, click here to return to the Solid Waste Division home page, or click here to see the Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station brochure.
Private Trash Hauler Option
For residents opting to have their trash picked up curbside, click here for a list of licensed private haulers. All private haulers collecting garbage in South Kingstown must be licensed, so you need to select someone from the list. Call a few haulers since prices can vary significantly.
As a condition of licensing, all haulers must also collect recyclables curbside on a regular schedule. Residents should contact their private hauler for information on their recycling schedule.
To facilitate the curbside recycling process, haulers have been issued rolling recycling toters and a detailed recycling brochure for each of their residential customers. Click here to see the recycling brochure.
The Town of South Kingstown looks forward to achieving a high recycling rate through the joint efforts of Town staff, the private haulers and all residents. For additional information, questions or concerns please call the Recycling Coordinator at 789-9331 extension 2259.
Call the South Kingstown Solid Waste Division at 789-9331 extension 2250 or 2259 if you have any questions.
