BACK-UP/PER DIEM VAN DRIVER
The town-operated Senior Center has an immediate need for an individual to provide back-up driver duties on a per diem basis. This position, which is generally limited to an average of 25-30 days per year, provides coverage in the absence of the regular full time Driver/Dispatcher.
This position is responsible for driving a lift-equipped, 18-passenger mid-sized bus to transport older adults to the Senior Center, shopping and a variety of errands within the Town limits. To be considered, candidates must possess a valid Rhode Island Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a “P” endorsement. This position is subject to random Controlled Substance and Alcohol Testing. The position pays $13.82 per hour.

Director, Emergency Medical Services

The Town is seeking an experienced professional to lead our emergency medical team of 16. This position, which reports directly to the Chief of Police, is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of emergency medicine to this diverse seaside community of 30,000 people. The Town, which encompasses 63 square miles, includes the University of Rhode Island. In this position, you would have oversight of all operations pertaining to the technical, clinical, administrative and supervisory duties associated with the EMS department.
Candidates who wish to be considered must have a bachelor’s degree in EMS Administration, Public Administration or a closely related field, a minimum of five (5) years of full time experience as an advanced life support provider in the pre-hospital environment (Paramedic level preferred), be a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician with previous EMS management experience, possess, or have the ability to obtain, a current State of Rhode Island DOH EMS provider license, current CPR, ACLS, and PALS certification, a valid drivers license and must have a satisfactory criminal records check.
This full time position has a salary range of $67,759-$74,752 and includes a full benefit package. PART TIME/16 HOURS/WEEK
The Town is seeking applicants for the position of part time dispatcher at our state of the art call center in the South Kingstown Police Department. A person in this position performs a variety of clerical, administrative and technical work in receiving and dispatching routine and emergency information, keeping official records and assisting in the administration of the standard operating policies and procedures of the dispatch center. You would monitor telephones and radios in the dispatch center, answer all incoming calls, including 911, ascertain nature of call, gather all necessary information to transmit or relay; receive complaints, requests, emergency calls or other information from patrols or the general public and transmit them to appropriate police officers, agencies and other departments or persons responsible for executing the necessary action.
To qualify, you must have basic clerical skills, including word processing and data entry, exceptional listening abilities, be detail oriented, dependable, mature, and have the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the public and others in responding to crisis situations. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Prior experience in an emergency dispatch setting is a plus. The position pays $20.14 an hour and works two (2) 8 hour shifts-Saturday 11pm-7am Sunday and Monday 11pm-7am Tuesday.

The Town is accepting applications for the per diem position of Traffic Constable. The constable is primarily tasked with directing traffic and ensuring the safety of the work scene.
Applicants must be in good physical condition, and have the ability to work shifts that range from 4 to 12 hours, most of which would be on their feet, and in all types of weather. You must be ready and able to work weekdays, weekends, daytime, evening and overnight if needed. You must be a minimum of 21 years of age and possess a valid motor vehicle license. Applicants with prior law enforcement or traffic control background are preferred. Constables must purchase their own uniforms and equipment. The position pays $26.10-$34.28 per hour.
