BACK-UP/PER DIEM VAN DRIVER

The town-operated Senior Center has an immediate need for an individual to provide back-up driver duties on a per diem basis. This position, which is generally limited to an average of 25-30 days per year, provides coverage in the absence of the regular full time Driver/Dispatcher.

This position is responsible for driving a lift-equipped, 18-passenger mid-sized bus to transport older adults to the Senior Center, shopping and a variety of errands within the Town limits. To be considered, candidates must possess a valid Rhode Island Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a “P” endorsement. This position is subject to random Controlled Substance and Alcohol Testing. The position pays $13.82 per hour.

2015 Summer Employment Opportunities

The South Kingstown Parks and Recreation Department has the following positions still available for its’ 2015 summer program.

Discovery Camp Counselor

In this position you will be responsible for the general supervision of school age children enrolled in summer camp. The counselors assist in the planning of activities and events; accompany campers on field trips and engage with them onsite. You must be a minimum of 16 years of age and have a high energy level. This part time position works approximately 25-35 hours per week, Monday-Friday during the school summer break, and pays $9.00 per hour.

Extreme Camp Supervisor

This position is responsible for the overall supervision, coordination and safety of staff and middle school age participants of the Extreme Camp. The supervisor will plan daily activities and field trips in coordination with recreation staff. Must be a minimum of 20 years of age, mature, possess good judgment when making decisions, have good communication skills and a high energy level. This 40 hour per week position works Monday-Friday from July 6th –August 7th and pays $11 per hour.

Extreme Camp Counselor

In this position you will be responsible for the supervision of middle school age children enrolled in extreme camp. You will assist the Extreme Camp Supervisor with executing daily trips. You must be a minimum of 18 years of age, have a high energy level, a creative nature, and the ability to engage participants in activities. The Extreme Camp runs from July 6-August 7th, Monday through Friday. This position will work approximately 35-40 hours per week and pays $10 per hour.

Please note that all positions require pre-camp meetings and trainings as well as First Aid and CPR.

The Town is seeking an experienced professional to lead our emergency medical team of 16. This position, which reports directly to the Chief of Police, is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of emergency medicine to this diverse seaside community of 30,000 people. The Town, which encompasses 63 square miles, includes the University of Rhode Island. In this position, you would have oversight of all operations pertaining to the technical, clinical, administrative and supervisory duties associated with the EMS department.

Candidates who wish to be considered must have a bachelor’s degree in EMS Administration, Public Administration or a closely related field, a minimum of five (5) years of full time experience as an advanced life support provider in the pre-hospital environment (Paramedic level preferred), be a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician with previous EMS management experience, possess, or have the ability to obtain, a current State of Rhode Island DOH EMS provider license, current CPR, ACLS, and PALS certification, a valid drivers license and must have a satisfactory criminal records check.

This full time position has a salary range of $67,759-$74,752 and includes a full benefit package. The town-operated Senior Center is in need of individuals to provide per diem/back up driver duties. This position, which is generally limited to an average of 25-30 days per year, provides coverage in the absence of the regular full time Driver/Dispatcher.

In addition, the Senior Center is in need of someone to provide these duties on a full time temporary basis for approximately 4 weeks starting on July 13, 2015.

This position is responsible for driving a lift-equipped, 18-passenger mid-sized bus to transport older adults to the Senior Center, shopping and a variety of errands within the Town limits. To be considered, candidates must possess a valid Rhode Island Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a “P” endorsement. This position is subject to random Controlled Substance and Alcohol Testing. The position pays $15.00 per hour.

Fire Alarm Inspector/Operator

Fire Alarm/Communications Department

The Town has an opportunity for an experienced operator to join our team. This full time/40 hour per week position assists in ensuring the integrity of all fire alarm and communication systems for the Town.

The responsibilities include: scheduling and prioritizing the inspections of new and existing buildings for compliance with State Fire Alarm Codes; reviewing building construction plans for correct placement of devices per RI fire code and standards; onsite inspections; issuing of correction notices and citations as necessary; processing paperwork for Final Acceptance Test; assisting IT in troubleshooting data transfer issues; works closely with fire department to investigate issues with sprinkler activation; performs maintenance and upkeep of police dispatch call center communications equipment; ensures proper functioning of fire, burglar, phone and computer systems in Town buildings; and other related tasks as assigned.

To qualify, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of experience with similar work, preferably at a minimum rank of a fire lieutenant; a basic knowledge of fire alarm panels and systems, sprinkler systems, municipal fire alarm-box system and cable plant operation; the ability to read and understand construction blueprints; basic knowledge of computer network operation and a working knowledge of fire behaviors and life safety principles. You must also have a valid driver’s license, CDL preferred, be NFPA 1001/Firefighter Level 1 certified and have the ability to respond to work station within 20 minutes of receiving emergency and/or call back.

This position has a salary range of $41,858-$45,252 and includes a full benefit package.
