TEMPORARY FULL TIME AND
BACK-UP/PER DIEM VAN DRIVER(S)
The town-operated Senior Center is in need of individuals to provide per diem/back up driver duties. This position, which is generally limited to an average of 25-30 days per year, provides coverage in the absence of the regular full time Driver/Dispatcher.
In addition, the Senior Center is in need of someone to provide these duties on a full time temporary basis for approximately 4-8 weeks starting immediately.
This position is responsible for driving a lift-equipped, 18-passenger mid-sized bus to transport older adults to the Senior Center, shopping and a variety of errands within the Town limits. To be considered, candidates must possess a valid Rhode Island Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a “P” endorsement. This position is subject to random Controlled Substance and Alcohol Testing. The position pays $18.00 per hour.

The Town has an opportunity in our Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) for an experienced mechanic. An individual in this position performs preventive maintenance and repair of mechanical and electromechanical machinery and equipment at the WWTF and pumping stations as needed.
The Mechanic I is responsible for: rebuilding and repairing WWTF and pump station equipment, including pumps, blowers and engines; lubricating motors and equipment and checking for malfunctions; performing all around maintenance on pumps; installing and setting up new equipment; performing plumbing and pipefitting tasks as needed; assisting in pump and engine maintenance; follows proper safety protocol including confined space entry procedures as required; maintaining various hydraulic equipment, boilers at pump stations and the plant; performs electrical, carpentry, painting and other related duties as required.
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent and 2-3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance work including but not limited to hydraulics, welding, gas and diesel engine repair and maintenance; a thorough knowledge of automotive mechanics, gas and diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, pumps and valves, generators, and welding. A valid driver’s license is required.
The starting salary for this 40-hour/week Council 94 position is $40,573 or $19.50 per hour and includes a full benefit package. The Town has a challenging opportunity for a seasoned professional to join our finance team in the newly created role of Procurement Administrator. This highly responsible position involves carrying out the financial policies and goals set by State Law and Local Ordinance in regards to procurement and purchasing.
Specifically, you will prepare and advertise competitive solicitation documents, coordinate, schedule and administer the formal bid process, prepare bid award documents, maintain all relevant bid files, oversee the compliance for all state and federal grants, and serve as chairperson of claims review committee as risk manager.
This individual will be responsible for the Town’s fixed assets as well as grant management, procurement and maintenance of adequate insurance and surety coverage for all town operations and town exposures, and the processing of liability, property, and workers’ compensation insurance cost share claims. Additionally, the individual will assist in preparing work papers for the annual audit conducted by the town’s outside independent audit firm where it relates to grant administration, fixed assets and procurement activities.
To qualify you must have a minimum of an associate’s degree in business, accounting, or finance and five (5) years of experience, preferably in the municipal setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The preferred candidate will have a thorough knowledge of all applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations; considerable knowledge of the functions and services of a town government with a particular knowledge of all types of equipment and vehicles; proficiency in the use of personal computers, financial software applications and related municipal purchasing applications. Prior experience in the use of Munis Financial Software, and experience with R.I. Vendor Information Program is desirable.
The salary range for this nonunion position is $60,592-$67,204 and includes a full array of employment benefits.
