TEMPORARY FULL TIME AND
BACK-UP/PER DIEM VAN DRIVER(S)
The town-operated Senior Center is in need of individuals to provide per diem/back up driver duties. This position, which is generally limited to an average of 25-30 days per year, provides coverage in the absence of the regular full time Driver/Dispatcher.
In addition, the Senior Center is in need of someone to provide these duties on a full time temporary basis for approximately 4-8 weeks starting immediately.
This position is responsible for driving a lift-equipped, 18-passenger mid-sized bus to transport older adults to the Senior Center, shopping and a variety of errands within the Town limits. To be considered, candidates must possess a valid Rhode Island Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a “P” endorsement. This position is subject to random Controlled Substance and Alcohol Testing. The position pays $18.00 per hour.

TOWN OF SOUTH KINGSTOWN
The South Kingstown, RI Police Department is seeking applicants to establish an eligibility list for the position of Police Officer. This diverse seaside of over 30,000 residents encompasses 63 square miles and includes the University of Rhode Island. The Police Department offers specialized services such as Bike Patrol and a Ceremonial Honor Guard unit. Currently, the department employs 53 sworn officers.
Candidates who wish to be considered for employment must be at least 21 years of age, a citizen of the United States and possess a valid driver’s license. They must also have earned at least 60 credits, or an Associates’ Degree, in any course of study from an accredited college/university BEFORE THE APPLICATION DEADLINE. In lieu of college credits, candidates may substitute a combination of a high school diploma or GED certification AND two years of CONTINUOUS, ACTIVE-DUTY, US military service with an honorable discharge. Applicants must be able to pass a physical agility test based on RIMPA standards and demonstrate an ability to swim. Starting salary is $43,562 with step increases up to $60,950 for patrol officer and includes a full range of benefits.

Seasonal Park Laborer
The Town is in immediate need of an individual to work in the Parks Division. This position is responsible for manual work in the maintenance of all municipal park facilities including ball fields, playgrounds, buildings and site amenities. This position will perform landscape maintenance, provide trash and leaf pick-up, restroom cleaning, and setting up of facilities for events.
The successful candidate must be knowledgeable in lawn maintenance operations, have a valid driver’s license, be a minimum of 18 years of age, and have the ability to perform manual labor for long periods under unfavorable weather conditions. This seasonal position will end approximately December of 2015 and pays $12 - $14 per hour depending on experience.
