The town-operated Senior Center is in need of individuals to provide per diem/back up driver duties. This position, which is generally limited to an average of 25-30 days per year, provides coverage in the absence of the regular full time Driver/Dispatcher.

In addition, the Senior Center is in need of someone to provide these duties on a full time temporary basis for approximately 4-8 weeks starting immediately.

This position is responsible for driving a lift-equipped, 18-passenger mid-sized bus to transport older adults to the Senior Center, shopping and a variety of errands within the Town limits. To be considered, candidates must possess a valid Rhode Island Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a “P” endorsement. This position is subject to random Controlled Substance and Alcohol Testing. The position pays $18.00 per hour.

Director, Emergency Medical Services

The Town is seeking an experienced professional to lead our emergency medical team of 16. This position, which reports directly to the Chief of Police, is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of emergency medicine to this diverse seaside community of 30,000 people. The Town, which encompasses 63 square miles, includes the University of Rhode Island. In this position, you would have oversight of all operations pertaining to the technical, clinical, administrative and supervisory duties associated with the EMS department.

Candidates who wish to be considered must have a bachelor’s degree in EMS Administration, Public Administration or a closely related field, a minimum of five (5) years of full time experience as an advanced life support provider in the pre-hospital environment (Paramedic level preferred), be a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician with previous EMS management experience, possess, or have the ability to obtain, a current State of Rhode Island DOH EMS provider license, current CPR, ACLS, and PALS certification, a valid drivers license and must have a satisfactory criminal records check.

This full time position has a salary range of $67,759-$74,752 and includes a full benefit package. The Town of South Kingstown is accepting applications for the position of Recreation Supervisor in the Department of Parks and Recreation. South Kingstown is an active ocean front community of 30,000 on the beautiful Rhode Island coast. The Recreation Supervisor works under the direction of the Recreation Superintendent and is responsible for the planning, organization, coordination and evaluation of programs offered by the Parks and Recreation Department. Two positions are available.

Specific responsibilities for the Sports and Fitness Recreation Supervisor include the department’s tennis, youth basketball and adult softball programs, adult drop-in athletic programs, youth and adult athletic special events and the supervision of the department’s fitness room.

Specific responsibilities for the Youth, Teen and Family Programming Recreation Supervisor include planning and coordinating preschool, youth and teen programs and special events, the coordination of the department’s summer sports camps and the coordination of the summer entertainment series.

The successful candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation administration or related field, a minimum of 2 years of full-time experience in a similar position, and 2 years of experience in program development and coordination. Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) status is required within 1 year of hire. The starting salary is $40,488 and includes a full benefit package.

Basketball Assistant

Basketball Assistant

The Town of South Kingstown Parks and Recreation Department is accepting applications for the part-time position of Basketball Assistant. The qualified individual must be 18-years of age and be available to work 20-25 hours (on average) per week from September to March. The job schedule requires select weekend hours in October and November, and standard hours every weekend December through March.

Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 3 years of experience working in the field of athletics, a solid knowledge of the game of basketball including a background in referring, a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher, be detailed oriented and well organized.

Duties of this position primarily consist of assisting with the planning and execution of the Department’s youth basketball program for children ages 5 to 18 years old. Tasks include creating documents, recruiting coaches and other basketball officials, interacting with parents, and overseeing gym site supervision. The job duties may also include tasks related to other sports and fitness programs as needed. The position pays $13-$15 per hour.

The South Kingstown Parks and Recreation Department is seeking high energy and enthusiastic individuals who are 15 years of age or older to work various days September through May for School’s Out Days (vacation weeks, and other scheduled closure days) as well as special events such as Children’s Fall Festival, Pumpkin Launch, Book Swap, Basketball Tournament, holiday events any other event or program requested.

Qualified applicants will assist the Recreation Supervisor and other staff with school age children (ages 5 – 13) in executing games, crafts, and providing proper supervision both on field trips and during camp. Must be able to work a minimum of 5 hours each shift (program or camp), use considerable independent judgment under minimum supervision and be able to work with the general public during special events.

Individuals must be dependable and have the ability to work at different venues around Town. Those under the age of 16 years will be responsible for providing their working papers to the Town if hired. Hours vary and are based on each program. The rate of pay is $9 per hour and current CPR and First Aid certifications are desirable but not required.
