The Building Code Board of Appeals was established by the Town Council on June 27, 1977, in accordance with the State Building Code to hear appeals from aggrieved parties regarding the interpretation, requirements, direction or failure to act under the State Code by the Building Official.
The Town Council appoints members to the Board for five-year terms. Effective July 1980, new membership on the Board is specified by State procedures. The Board shall consist of one architect, two professional engineers, one builder, and a building official (or member of the general public). Persons sitting on the Board prior to 1980 may be reappointed; however, new appointees must meet the above criteria.
The Board of Appeals meets regularly throughout the year, to hear appeals of decisions made by the Building Official (usually 3-4 times/year).
Applications may also be obtained in the Building Officals Office.
