During revaluation year new assessment notices are mailed to all property owners, at that time an "informal appeal hearing" can be scheduled with the revaluation company.

After the tax bills are mailed in August of any given year an Assessment Appeal Application can be downloaded from this site (see attachment below) or a form can be picked up at the Assessor's Office at Town Hall or a form can be mailed to you by contacting the Assessor's Office at 789-9331 ext. 1220.

An Assessment Appeal must be made to the Assessor within 90 days of when the first quarterly tax payment is due, which August 1st of any given year. The deadline for the 2010 appeal period is October 29, 2010.

You may appeal your assessment if your property is overvalued (assessed value is more than the fair market value as of December 31, 2009 - the year of the last update or revaluation for real estate) for any reason, including clerical and data processing errors. The next town-wide revaluation will be on December 31, 2012 and reflected in the July 2013 tax bill. When you return your appeal to the Tax Assessor’s office, be sure to attach all of your back-up documentation. The Tax Assessor and/or the Assessment Board of Review will review your application prior to your hearing.
