On Saturday, June 30, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. the Town of South Kingstown will host their annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day at the South Kingstown Town Hall, 180 High Street, Wakefield, RI.
Eco-Depot or household hazardous waste (HHW) collection offers Rhode Islanders the opportunity to dispose of small amounts of HHW safely and properly. Typical hazardous substances include rechargeable batteries, oil based paints, gasoline, pesticides, paint thinners, fluorescent light bulbs, etc. Because these items contain chemicals or toxins that are harmful to humans, animals and the environment, special care is required to dispose of them safely. Items that are NOT considered HHW include latex or water based paints and regular single use alkaline batteries.
This event is paid for by the Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation (RIRRC) and is a free service for Rhode Islanders. Please call the RIRRC at (401) 942-1430 extension 241 to schedule an appointment or for additional information.
If you have any questions about recycling in South Kingstown, please call the Town's Recycling Coordinator at (401) 789-9331 extension 2259.
