Friends of South Kingstown Parks and Recreation |
Please join us in ensuring we maintain a quality park and recreation system for our children and our children's children.
South Kingstown residents take great pride in our outstanding parks and recreation system. Whether it's a child making her first basket, whizzing down the bike path, or enjoying the solitude of a walk along a nature trail, our park and recreation system fosters a "sense of community" by providing a place to meet and socialize, learn, and grow. Our parks also protect valuable public land forever.
As a growing community, we have many needs. The number of children in our schools continues to grow, roads need to be re-surfaced, and bridges need to be repaired. The Parks and Recreation Department is also confronting the challenge of continuing to meet the leisure needs of our community with limited resources.
The Recreation Commission created the Friends of South Kingstown Parks and Recreation in 1999 to support the mission of the Parks and Recreation Department. We assist the department by pursuing grants and donations, accept real and personal property, and help promote the importance of parks and recreation in our community.

| How Can You Help? |
The Friends has established a variety of ways for you or your organization to support our parks and programs. The Friends would be pleased to discuss any of the following suggestions with you or your legal counsel.
Gift Program - The Friends has established a gift program that allows local citizens and organizations to provide a variety of park and recreation equipment. You can support our park system by providing the funding for a gift. All gifts will be acknowledged with a plaque on the respective donation. Larger gifts may also involve naming rights. Please use our gift form or contact Tim Wolken at 789-9301 for more information
Outright Gift - A gift of cash or securities will give you tax savings while supporting the Parks and Recreation Department.
Real or personal property donation - The Friends is a non-profit organization and all donations to us are tax deductible. Therefore, your donation of real or personal property will not only help our park system, but it will also provide you with tax advantages.
Bequests - Please consider supporting our parks and programs by including us as a recepient in your estate. Your thoughtfulness will have a lasting effect on our community.
We do not cease playing because we are old; we grow old because we cease playing. ---Joseph Lee
