Local Voting Information

The Presidential Preference Primary will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2020. 

The Secretary of State has send a Mail Ballot Application to every registered voter in the State of Rhode Island. Complete and sign the application and return to the Board of Elections in the postage paid, pre-addressed envelope that is included with the application. Your ballot will be sent to you by mail for you to vote from the safety of your home. Return your voted ballot according to the instructions provided with it.  Click here for instructions on this mail ballot process.
Deadline to Apply for a Mail Ballot
The deadline to apply for a Mail Ballot for the Presidential Preference Primary to be held on June 2, 2020 is May 19, 2020.  Emergency Mail Ballot Applications will be available beginning on May 20th through June 1st at 4pm for those electors who do not apply for a mail ballot.

Because this election is being conducted primarily as a mail ballot election, the only polling location that will be open on June 2nd will be at the Community Recreation Center, 30 St. Dominic Road, Wakefield.

This poll will be open from 7am to 8pm and a photo ID is required. A mask or other face covering will be required to enter the polling place, and social distancing measures will be in place.


Deadline to Register to Vote & Make Voter Information Changes

 May 3, 2020 is the last date to register to vote for the Presidential Preference Primary to be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2020.   The Board of Canvassers has made voter registration forms available in an outdoor box at the entrances to the Town Hall, 180 High Street, Wakefield and the Peace Dale Library, 1057 Kingstown Road, Peace Dale.   Completed forms can be placed in the drop box at Town Hall no later than Sunday, May 3, 2020 at 4:00 P.M. Voter Registration is also available online at . Anyone who will reach the age of eighteen (18) on or before June 2, 2020 may register by May 3, 2020 to be eligible to vote at the Presidential Preference Primary. Those who have married and wish to have their voting records changed must re-register by May 3, 2020. Anyone who has moved within the Town must also re-register by May 3, 2020 to correct their address. May 4, 2020 is the last date to change your party affiliation. Completed forms can be placed in the drop box at Town Hall no later than Monday, May 4, 2020 at 4:00 PM.
