In times of emergency it is important that citizens of the community prepare themselves and their families.

South Kingstown and Narragansett Emergency Management Agencies recognize the need for an organized and trained group of volunteers that can respond to disasters within the community.
The Town of South Kingstown has implemented a state-of-the-art community notification system to alert citizens about emergencies and other important community news. The community notification system, provided by Code RED, enables the Town to provide essential information quickly in a variety of situations, such as severe weather, fires, floods, unexpected road closures, or evacuation of buildings or neighborhoods. Special Needs Registry
The State of Rhode Island has developed a registry for Rhode Islanders with disabilities, chronic conditions, and other special healthcare needs.
During normal business hours, the Senior Center and Peace Dale Library are designated Warming and Cooling Centers for the Town of South Kingstown during prolonged, extreme cold and heat.
