1. Animal Control

    The Town's Animal Control program enforces all Town and State Laws pertaining to domestic animals and ensures that all animals in the Town of South Kingstown are treated humanely.

    Under state and federal laws the South Kingstown Police Department is required to perform Background (BCI) / Criminal Record Checks as well as fingerprinting for individuals seeking employment, licensing or a position with varying businesses and agencies throughout the state of Rhode Island.

  4. FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM)

    The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has released new Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) for the coastal areas of the Town of South Kingstown effective October 16, 2013.

  5. Geographical Information Systems (GIS)

    The Town of South Kingstown’s Geographic Information System (SKGIS) Division of the Planning Department provides access to accurate geographic information about the Town as a tool in decision-making for Town government and its citizens.

  6. Inspection Services

    Town inspectors are available for appointment to review work as it pertains to a permit (building, plumbing, electrical or mechanical) and fire alarm.

    Public Safety oversees several divisions, including the South Kingstown Police Department, Harbor Patrol, Animal Control, Animal Shelter, and Emergency Medical Services divisions.

    Created in 1939 to provide parks and recreation programs and services for our Town, the Parks & Recreation department now offers over 1,000 recreation programs and classes annually for all ages and interests. We manage the Neighborhood Guild community center, Peace Dale Office Building, Stepping Stone Preschool, the Town Beach, the William C. O'Neill “South County” Bike Path, Old Mountain Field, and an extensive park system.
